Total Solar Eclipse 2015 Faroe Islands, Torshavn Photographed under a dense and loveley cloud layer at the 20th of March 2015 Th.Boeckel |
With greetings from the spooky Torshavn ;-)
Since the 17th of March, I was confronted on the Faroes Islands with typical seasonal weather conditions. Cut off mountains caused by a dense permanent cloud cover together with light rain doesn't invited me to any big hikes. Due to the solar eclipse the hotels were completely overbooked, thus I prefered car camping next to old snowfields.
The mystical landscape of the archipelago hides unexpected impressions. The fjord cuts reinforce the unique Scandinavian feeling. Incidentally forests are missing on the islands completely. I have not seen even a tree.
Two of 90.001 sheeps. One is photographing....
Typical houses in Torshavn. Dried fish and grass roofes in the midle of this modern and live-pulsating city are currently presented.
To host the numerous sun worshiper, the main ferry Torshavn-Reykjavik was converted into a floating hotel.
And here the FIFA Stadium. Small but powerful, here also the European Championship football take place, but games have also been canceled due to mega thick fog.
Maschinelle ÜbersetzungEverywhere raged the eclipsolitis. Even a private beer was brewed. The taste was excellentlyMaschinelle ÜbersetzungNo matter where an eclipse in the world takes place, it acts always fascinating to people. The hype here was also big. Somehow you sneeze that.
After three days bad weather, partly cloudy was actually announced to the maximum
First loud gaps actually let revive hope. This is something I've never seen here before :-), The hills in Torshavn were gradually overrun. The city has probably experienced the largest crowd incl. traffic chaos in its history.
And then this debacle to the maximum. A punctual clouds gush from the mountains rolled over from behind us and locked the final view to the maximum (totality) of the eclipse.
Then, the master cheek. 5 minutes after the totality the thin crescent peered again through the cloud gaps
But there is still an escalation. Half an hour later it was cloudless for three hours. No comment!
The rugged rocks seen from the the island of Vagar
Rural idyll and a perfectly matched industrial buildings to the landscape make it disappear literally.
Faroe villages stand out for their peaceful location along the barren coastline.
Yes, and even in the Faroe Islands is LEGO-Land. Here at the airport, the Lego-stones inspire still young and old.
Hmm .. lets build a successful eclipse the next time.
