Vesuvio (left). The Napoli - Stromboli connection by takes about four hours with the aliscafo which is running several times per week. Notice in the after season the aliscafi are not running from Napoli but you can take the traghetti Vittorio de Carpaccio. On the right, the  apprx. 230.00 years old Stromboliccio , an old volcano 'plug'.

Richard Roscoe with his big 'Ranzen' on the left and right image on the way up passing the new shelter which is placed at the eastern point of the summit ridge (Helicopter landing place). If you see the the next images and the Gif animation you'll unterstand why you can use this new techno-designed pub also as a useful shelter. Attention! The beer supply is rather moderate.

Impressive eruptions of the east crater. In comparision the night view.

Eruption of the western crater also in comparision day / night / day. A special highlight was the extremely ash expulsion of every pipe in the crater terrace.

In addition of the high ash rate of the outbursts the lava was also forced up under a bright glowing shine which can not be observed so intensive and red by daylight as usual. A very spectacular photo was successful taken by Martin which shows an 'cold' rock which was pushed up several meters above the east crater rim. May this volcano bullet had a lenght diameter of apprx. 1,5 m.

Additional to the bright orange shining lava shreds and fontains, aerosole rings appeared from a hidden pipe closer to the Pizzo.

Advice!

ALL craters can erupt and throw out far behind the observation point Pizzo. In this distance lava bombs can cause fatal injuries.
