The location Valdevacas de Montejo (N 41°31' 30"/ W 03°37' 30") was about 90 km east of Valladolid in the southern region Aranda de Duero (Red arrow on the map).

  20.30.03 CEST; 2.Contakt: The complete covering of the lunar disc initiates the climax of the total eclipse. The time of totality took ca. 1 min 45 sec.

   

Before the full cover of the sun disks the diamond ring and the string-of-pearls effect appears.

Wow, a very nice and unusual big prominence appears :-).

The eclipse goes its way and different exposure times let appear more details. 

Varying exposure times reveal details such as prominences and the chromosphere (a thin pink ring).

  

20:31.48 CEST; 3 contact: Exit from the umbra, the string-of-pearls effect and the diamond ring appeared again.

  

Wow again! Details on the otherside shows again more little protuberances.

The sun disk changed at sunset to an pacman egg. The 4th contact took place under the horizon.

After diving 4300 km for this trip,  far away from the eclipse chaos we had actually found one of the most beautiful spots for miles around - right under the vultures in Europe's largest vulture colony.

     

The hill "Cerro El Alto" an the little village Valdevacas de Montejo with 29 very friendly inhabitants.

       

Astronomers of all different countries did also discovered this magic hill.

   

And the best of all, cold water 'fuentes' for cooling down important beverages..
